History

In 1936, the "Circle K House" at Washington State College (now Washington State University) was established by the Kiwanis Club of Pullman, Washington. Originally organized as a fraternity, Kappa Iota Phi served men who needed financial aid to attend college. Kiwanis members also wanted to provide collegiate students with leadership opportunities for their future careers and participate in service projects to improve their communities while developing a sense of fellowship.

In 1947, Circle K changed from a fraternity to a service organization. That year, the first Circle K Club was chartered at Carthage College in Carthage, Illinois. From then on, Circle K expanded to various states where it received official endorsement by Kiwanis International. Circle K International adopted Kiwanis beliefs by establishing the three tenets of service, leadership, and fellowship. Today, Circle K is in 17 nations around the world with 500+ clubs and 13,000+ members.

Circle K International was chartered as an official club at Diablo Valley College on November 9th, 2009. Ever since our chartering at DVC, our club have served as a home away from home for many our members while making an impact on our local and global communities through service!
